Microagression

While on the phone with others:
"Why do you sound like a white girl when you're Dominican?"
" How do I sound white?"
" You just do"

Book Covers

I like this book design because it looks both kinda of creepy yet interesting. I like the colors too because they make the girl the focal point. It is interesting to the eyes because of the composition and color.

I like this cover and yet i don't. I like it because it is simple and gets the message across of what the book may be about. Then I don't like because it portrays women as objects and sexual figures.

I really like this one because i like the fact that the animal eyes replaced the man's eyes.

I like this cover because it is complex and makes you wonder what this book may be about.

I like this book cover because it is both simple and looks hand drawn. Plus I like the two people in the middle because it makes the reader wonder what this book may be about.

Favorite Book

Thirteen
The cover is very successful at capturing what the book is about because the book deals with horror stories and the cover conveys this idea. The red and the ghostly figure incites fear in the audience and this feeling of horror is  represent in all the stories. The black creates a sense of mystery present in these short stories. Plus one of the story has to deal with a ghost so the book makes this story the focal point as it may be one of the scariest stories in the book.

I prefer the first cover because the cover does not have all the names of the authors all together, they are spread out. Plus the first cover is more creepy because of the face in the center of the book acting as the focal point.

Mid Winter Recess

For my mid winter recess I traveled to Dominican Republic, the place in which I was born. It was amazing over there, as the weather was warm and I was able to spend time with my family which I only see once a year after I moved to New York.

This is a picture of my nieces and my nephew. I have eight nieces and one nephew! The two standing behind me are two oldest nieces and the two babies are the youngest in our family.

These are my three sister and one of them was not in the photo as she was in New York. I am the youngest among all my sisters.

This a photo of my family, although there are some members that are still missing. I love each one of them dearly and I can't wait to see them again soon!

Logo Design

Elite Dance Team Logo Design

The most challenging aspect of creating my logo design had to be finalizing my idea. At the beginning of the process I created a lot of sketches to try and come up with different ideas for the design. Although I had all these different sketches it was difficult for me to settle on one because some didn't meet my criteria or the teacher's criteria or just didn't please me. It was also difficult because I had a lot of choices to pick from and was unsure which one worked the most efficiently.

In order to overcome this challenge I careful read over the criteria to ensure that the design I wanted to use met all the requirements. Plus I also asked my classmates what they believed the best design would be. I lastly reviewed the questions I asked the club leader to make sure that my design had all the aspects that really identify with this club.

The most successful part of my logo design would have to be how the logo design itself came together as a whole. In order to look complete and polished the design had to work together as a whole. I was able to isolate each part to visually work together with one another making my goal successful.

Museum Of National History

                                             Museum of National History
For this assignment I decided to attend the Museum of National History where I looked at different exhibits throughout the museum. This specific piece of artwork is located in the Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals. This artwork had a lot of other mammals in its surrounding which were very interesting as well. I came across this specific artwork and decided to take a picture of this because it looks so realistic. As I stared at these animals they looked so real and beautiful. It was exactly what I was expecting for these lions to look like. This artwork reminds me of myself in some way because they look very powerful and mean but at the same time very calm and sweet. I really liked this because it looks awesome catching the viewers attention. Since it looks so realistic it is as though you are face to face to these wild animals. The cats actually lived across the United States until European settlers encroached. By the early 1900s, almost all cougars had been exterminated. These cats are solitary, and males and females only travel together a few days out the year when they are mating. This mostly means that these two cats were traveling together because they were mating.
